I have a M38A1 that tub is pretty rough. And a friend who has a 73 CJ5 that the tub is pretty good shape will the mounting points be the same as the M38A1 points. I know that I am going to need cut the floor pan for the tcase shifters. Thanks

Some will, some won’t. The floor is far different more than shifters. Pedal holes will need to be cut as will steering column hole and master cylinder hole. Cowl vent for the heater will need plugged off. The later tub will not have the battery box in the cowl. List goes on and on.

The dimensions between the A1 and the intermediate tub are roughly the same, including hood and fender attachment. As Nick said above, floors, steering column, pedals, dash, etc are very different, though it can be made to work. The wiring, both dash and firewall are way different. The ‘73 has that air louver at the base of the windshield.
I’ve gone the exact opposite direction in the past, swapping an A1 tub on a ‘72 CJ5. The majority of the frame mounts were the same or very close for the most part.
If you end up swapping, any chance you want to part with the battery box lid? I’m putting together an A1 and still need the buckle type.
