get the old low back ones redone? Buy new covers for the old seats and have them put on? Put cj or yj seats in? It only had the front seats in. looks like it has holes for a fixed rear seat. Cj5 style? do they fit?
    Its on a 71 jeepster.

The stock seats on my 70 Commando had been reupholstered when I bought it.I think they're quite comfortable. I'm not sure about the rear seat...it looks to me like it's different than a CJ. The brackets would definitely be different.

IMO if you have the original seats, you should at minimum find out what your rebuilding/recovering cost will be. The original seats in these and the CJs are very comfortable. And the buckets are nice that the bolsters are enough to keep you from sliding around on side hill and such.

Even at a premium price, I would fix the original seats. I expect the CJ seats from the same era are no different. Everything I've heard about the Bestop or Smitty seats - they are not up to the comfort standard of the original seats.

Thanks. I would like to keep it as original as possible. Big fancy wrangler seats would not look right. I did find "seat covers" not auto parts store covers but ones that an upholstery shop would put on. Ill have to check the price.

I have used both Bestop and Smittybilt low back seats. The Smittys were more comfortable. The places around our area are around 500 bucks to recover seats, so it wasn't really an option for me, even if I could find nice original frames. My seat frames were long gone.

I would recover/rebuild your original seats. Not only are they correct, but are much more comfortable and fit properly. The “Jeepsterman” specializes in these vehicles and has correct replacement color and material seat covers (2 front +rear) for around $575.
