A while back I picked up a used 6’ Meyer Model ST or C plow which fit Darling Dorris. As she is lifted, the bracket assembly required some modifications. I also sent the E-47 pump motor off for service as I wanted to avoid any problems come plow season as the drain bolt was already stripped. It ended up just being easier to just upgrade the motor, so I went with a professionally rebuilt and repainted E-58H, as apparently they just run better and faster. Hydraulic hoses and fittings were supplied by a hydraulic shop.

This winter I finally have everything together and have been plowing driveways in the neighborhood. In just 1 storm I’ve already paid for the new motor and hydraulic hoses. Nothing big, just basic driveways, berm removal, or vehicle access.

Chains were definitely a must. Adding 120lbs of sand in the bed for ballast improved handling and gives a bit more traction. She is a tank, and has shocked many neighbors with what she can do given her size. While I can’t plow like a 3/4 ton truck, people get a real kick out of seeing such a classic vehicle still being used. One trick I learned is to coat the blade with a slick surface, such as WD-40 to keep the snow from sticking to the blade.

The best part is, instead of me paying for parts and what-not, she is actually creating revenue.:bananatool:

I couldn’t agree more. My neighbors all laughed at the plow jeep until they saw it in action. It has the maneuverability of a SxS with the power and force of a truck. Awesome post!

Now we’ll see if these videos work. These are my first YouTube uploads, so I have a lot to learn, such as correct camera angles, and placement, but as winter goes on, I’ll upload more.

For plowing over gravel, a piece of PVC pipe cut down its length and hammered onto the bottom of the blade floats over the gravel and clears the snow great without causing road damage

    My driveway is all gravel

    Fun stuff!

I once cobbled up a plow for my old CJ5 out of a garden tractor plow, motorcycle shock, and some vintage free-bees. It all mounted to the towbar shackles on the Jeep. I painted a big old smile on the blade. Had a ton of fun in the neighborhood for a couple winters.

Since moving to Missouri I've only plowed snow for profit one day (10 years ago)
Took a lot of grunt to get some trucks able to get out.

Then some people are a-holes and pay to carefully plow in their buddy's car.

Used to plow my driveway with the M38A1 and an old plow I cobbled together.

Heavy wet snow would almost outweigh the jeep, and the plow angle would make the whole rig crab at an angle.

One time I pushed a little too far, went off the terrace and stood the jeep on its nose. No big deal, just some quality come-along time to get it back.

the funny thing is, I’m only at 4500 feet. We just keep getting hit. All highways and the interstate have been closed for a while. I plowed yesterday morning after getting 12” overnight, another 6” fell over the afternoon. 14” fell last night another 2-5” fell this afternoon. Another foot is expected tonight:shock:.

I’m getting pretty busy. Buuuut….Jeep parts are getting paid for. :D

    Looks like fun.

You're getting a lot more snow on that side of the mountains, I'm at about the same elevation and south of you. The mountains must be catching most of it, we got 4 or 5 " last night.

    Nice, impressive.
I saw a dog in the background - Use caution, I knew someone who backed over a dog while plowing snow.

As I've heard women say, "you never know how many inches you'll get or how long it will last."

I'm located on escarpment side, 40 miles north of you, near hwy 36 and 395. In addition to the falling stuff, we're being freeze dried and buried from drifting snow. Its not the wet sierra cement snow... its the super dry fluffy powder. Stay warm and safe down there in Graeagle.

I used to love to plow with the Jeep. I had the E-47 rebuilt once and the guy told me he wouldn't be able to do it again because the parts were becoming unavailable. The blade now sticks when I angle it right, I need a wall to bump it against to get it to release, so I stopped plowing in 2015.

Only needed chains one year, 2010 we had a big storm with 18" of snow. It shut down the state highway for 2 day before the plows showed up.
