Kinda cool, but I think I'd rather have a flat bed trailer that could be used for other things too.

I'd like to see an old Jeep riding on that trailer.

Would a cj5 with modern 10.5" wide tires fit? Doesn't look like it to me ☹️

It’s possible. I just measured mine (Toyota axle width with 32x9.50s), and the tread width is 61”. These axles are around 5” wider than ECJs.

JMO: A single axle car/Jeep hauler has limitations that a dual axle trailer overcomes. That's why I bought a dual axle car hauler for my CJ5. Someday, I might get a Roadrunner; just a 383 base model is fine with me!

    Don't tell my wife! :sneak:
I DO like this trailer for a camping/overlander base project effort, however!

If I still lived in SLC, I'd be on the road to get this little trailer!
...but I have my eyes on another overlander trailer that will better suit my needs/wants.

I have a small tow vehicle...need a very small light trailer - plus could possibly build an add-on high platform above the fenders so it could also be used as a raft trailer.

I would guess wheel backspacing might also affect that a bit, but yea, maybe outside tread to outside tread would be possible....I have 3.5" backspacing on an 8.5" wide rim. So that means I have maybe 6 inches of tread width beyond the wms on each side. So whatever the axle width is (I've spend so much time on the 58 wagon I forgot the ecj5 width - is it like 51"?) plus another 12 inches of tire tread stick out....My math says its more than the 60 or so shown in the picture. Also, looks like the tread width would max out around 8.5" for the 'ramps'....

    James,
If you end up getting this trailer, let me know!
I can arrange free lodging at my place near Grand Junction, CO for your out and/or return trip to the Denver area!
Your expertise during the October 2021 Moab trip was greatly appreciated.

I am in Montana for the winter - which maybe makes the drive to past boise a little shorter, but its still 8 hrs one way to Wieser or so...Plus, without getting specific measurements of track and tread width on my cj (which is in Colorado), its a bit too risky to assume it will fit.....maybe....

The thing going for these little trailers is you don't have the rear steer of flat towing or the mass of a full utility trailer but without brakes it's worthless since the size of vehicle needed to stop it is likely big enough to flat tow.

I don't see any leaf springs on that trailer, or are they hidden somehow?

I just went out & measured mine, which is similar to yours (D27 with 33x10.50-15 tires) and it's right at 62" tread width. About 3" too wide for that trailer.

Thanks...both my gut feeling guess and my rough math estimate suggests the same.....
One of our skilled fabrication members could probably modify the trailer just a bit to fit an ecj5 like mine, but wouldn't trust my own skills to do safely....oh well, I don't mind flat towing, it works well enough for me and my small truck.

It seems to me that the trailer would ride rough and you'd feel it in the tow vehicle.
