I think that's kinda steep for a 4:1 tranny. $100 shift knobs? Whatever

Maybe it's not a deal, but I like the combination of pieces...plenty strong 4speed for v8 power and 4:1 is fine for non rock crawl applications and the D20 with 2.46 gears is nice and helps with crawl, and a sbc adapter and aluminum bell....T18/19s go for a premium here compared to 465s, and the 465 doesn't need the front adapter, but it does need the pricey D18/20 adaption/mainshaft. I've got about the same money into my 465/18 combo plus bell. Yes it has granny low, but I'd prefer a D20 and the 465 is huge to fit in a tunnel.

A synchronized first gear might be nice...to each their own.
    I love my granny low.

My truck has a synchro granny low (ZF 5 speed)
It is nice, but you still have to be going pretty slow before you can downshift to first...not that you'd want to at higher speed.
