Vintage Generac Vem/on Board Generator

Hey all,

Picked this up a few weeks ago on Ebay (still waiting for the mounting bracket ). The Fiance's 1210 was a contractor truck all its life with mods like dual batteries and a jumper cable port out front. Most of those mods are gone now, and we're starting our own. This'll be the first, and they're hard to find I've discovered.

This is a 60's Generac Vehicle Engine Mounted Alternator (marketed as the VEM). They made several combination vehicle alternator/generators back in the day, and two generator only models. This is the larger 3,000 watt. It's colossal and weighs a ton. Sure there's better ways to generate power, like a portable generator or even a newer Fabco, but this is more fun!

The one thing that's holding me up is I'd love to find the optional regulator so I don't have to adapt one, but I can't find anything anywhere. I figured y'all would appreciate seeing this thing.

 

Given up on the mounting bracket. Got a full refund from the seller, picture of the bracket, and promise he would mail it. Never came. Just gonna be happy with my refund and find someone to make me a bracket. It would be better to have it fully custom anyway. I need to figure out how to sandwich it in without taking the spot where the a/c compressor will go.
