Is there supposed to be a gasket on the bottom mount windshield wiper motor cover? Mine seems to overlap the windshield ? Doesn’t seem right?

Yes, that looks right, at least my 74 looks that way. I removed it for the first time since new the other day and it looks like it has no gasket just some type putty around it for a seal.

Jeep used the rope caulk aka butyl caulk lots of places. Seems likely that's what is there. "Mortite" at the big box or hardware store. I'd leave a gap open at the bottom. There is no gasket as such in the parts book.

This stuff is great. I used it for this and also to seal up the windshield to roof joint and roof to body joint. Works great and easier to remove than rtv.
