Had a rear view mirror I bought for the Jeep a few years back. The housing that held the mirrored glass was rusted out and would not pivot. The base was in good shape. Started to look at Hot Rod part suppliers for a replacement mirror, hoping to find a replace mirror that would fit on the pivot ball. I saw mirrors that had a thread rod on the end, I got one. I was planning to find a coupling, I could weld to the base shaft and screw the mirror into it. I ended talking to McRuff about it and he said he might be able to tap the base shaft and then screw the mirror into. I told him a coupling would be fine. Sent him the mirror base and the new mirror.

Got everything back and it looks great. This will be better than the plastic mirror and the new mirror has the tab to flip for glare. The only issue is, the new mirror is chrome. Need to figure out what color to paint the base.
