White Board

    Have wanted a white board in the garage for a bit so finally got around to it. Not many options for mounting space so I had too get creative.

    Still some things to be done to complete the install but I'm happy with it for now.

    Is that one of them that is magnetic? We have several at work that are made of steel covered with the white board make's it nice to hold drawings with magnets.

    For sure, I want to be able to hang reference drawings on it while working on the lathe. Down side is it's slippery, takes a pretty strong magnet to keep paper in place.

    Added a cork board as well to stick stuff I look at frequently, it snugs up underneath the white board on it's own set of rails.

    Another good/cheap whiteboard is the white showerboard or melamine paneling you can get from Lowes, etc. It's not true whiteboard but holds up well with moderate use. I used to have 20 linear feet of floor to ceiling whiteboard in my home office.

    Actually the last hardboard I got from Home Despot that I used on my table saw baffles would be perfect for a white board, unfortunately it's not magnetic.

    I know this because I tested it. :schooled:

    Shower Board will eventually stain. I have it in my classroom and even dry erase markers are permanent on it.

    I made a couple hundred of these for my oldest sons school when they were first opening up as a charter school like 14 years ago. I also made full size ones for classrooms. They worked well for a whole year.

    Boring a spindle?

    I have a problem with white boards, what I print is difficult to wipe after some days, even if I use what is indicated.
    I made one in Inox, but this is not magnetic inbox.

    Nah just a time killer, I like to spin rusty stuff up fast & hit it with 80 grit to watch the brown dust fly :D

    Yup, the spray cleaner stuff does not work well.

    I occasionally get bored at work so I walk around with a damp soapy cloth & clean all the grubby white boards haunted the the Ghosts Of Meetings Past, they end up looking like new :)
