Can someone help me decode my VIN?

    8305A218654

It’s titled as a 67 CJ5 but from some of the research I’ve done, the ‘2’ designates it as a right hand drive (which it currently is not..) It has a Dauntless and T86 in it, which are original to the Jeep, according to the PO. Does that seem correct?

Apologies if I’m posting this in the wrong place..

The "83" denotes the vehicle as a CJ-5; the "05" indicates Open Body; and the "A" indicates a 225-V6 engine. During the 1955-71 time frame, the remaining six digits were the sequential serial number.

The 1965-67 Serial Number / Build Date chart below shows the s/n that started each month of production during those model years. (Note: Similar charts for the model years before and after this time frame, to the best of my knowledge, have never been located.)

The second column, under 8305A/B, shows s/n's in the range of yours as being built in August of 1966, so your CJ-5 was manufactured early during the 1967 model year:

Incidentally, my '67 CJ-5 is serial number 218379. Given that Kaiser Jeep produced about 2000 CJ-5's during the month of August 1966, mine was likely built only a few days before yours was.

This is great info. Thank you so much, Maury. Pretty cool that ours were likely built only a few days apart. Also makes me feel better to know that it wasn’t a right hand drive model that has been converted!
