Hey everyone, long time no update. I have gotten everything on the rolling chassis pretty much done. Really I'm stopped until I get a body, For me my original body is in such bad condition that I don't think it's worth it to save it. I did the math and the sheet metal alone is almost what a replica body from Willys-Overland costs, and that is before I even do any work. So I am thinking about selling my original body (may be worth it to someone) and ordering the willys-overland 1 hour installation replica tub.

As far as what I have gotten done on the chassis, big shout out to Herm Tilford "Herm the overdrive guy" I got all of the steering components installed and it's perfect. Quality machine work is done by his shop you will be highly satisfied with his work. I ended up having to go with a high mount Buick style power steering pump bracket. With Herms power steering gear set up, you will need to do this for clearance of your return and pressure lines. I had a custom pressure line made up by Hose and Tube in San Antonio Tx. I installed the Holley 390 CFM 4 Barrel carb, both front and rear drive shafts are installed. I had a custom front drive shaft made by Seguin Equipment Services, they do excellent diff and driveshaft work. I also highly recommend them if you live in Central or South Texas.

I roughly installed the headers just to get other things lined up. All accessories are now installed as well. Im pretty sure I am going to go with an electric fan and triple core aluminum radiator.

Enough talk, how about some pictures?

Nope they are two part epoxy floors with the paint fleck and clear coat over the top. It makes clean up of an oil based stuff a wiz.

Hey everyone it's been awhile, took a job at a new plant so it's been contributing to my neglected jeep project. I did media blast all of the sheet metal yesterday I had Jeff with Elite blasting and coatings out of Wimberly Texas do the job for me. Excellent work, done right. Give him a call if you are in the San Antonio/Austin area (512)-688-0625. Now for the pics, ENJOY!

In addition to the blasting photos, check out what we found in the kick panels under the JEEP logo. Some PO had brazed a plate in on each side and filled it with 12 lbs of bondo. YES I said brazed, I found brazing all over this Jeep. 104 Blasting.jpg

New Update on the progress of the body work. so far both rockers with the JEEP logos have been replaced, the supports have been replaced on both sides of the footwell. The floor pans have been replaced, we are about to set the tub on the rolling chassis and the floor supports can be installed at that point. 112 Body work.jpg 113 Body work.jpg 114 Body work.jpg 115 Body work.jpg 116 Body work.jpg 117 Body work.jpg 118 Body work.jpg 119 Body work.jpg 120 Body work.jpg

    Your jeep looks great!
Just a heads up, your power steering mount is the Buick 455 mount. That mount is has been mistakenly bought by many here only to find out that it causes the pump to hit the fenderwell.
You may want to look into the sourcing the Buick 350 mount. The 455 mount projects downward and out where as the 350 mount projects up and out. Here is a picture of the 350 mount for comparison.

Nope I did not know that, the guy I bought it from assured me it was from a Buick 350. :banghead: Thanks for the heads up. I'm guessing the triangle mount still works for the 350 or 455 right? Would you happen to know where I can find one of these?

Today we mounted the body on the frame, we also installed the Roxor swing peddles and brake booster. I did not do it with the steering column housing running between the peddles I actually mounted it so that the brake peddle mounted to the left side of the steering column. This was done for two reasons. One, the brake peddle is way too close to the gas peddle. I wear a size 14 so this makes me nervous. Two, the booster is so close to the valve cover that if you needed to do anything to the left cylinder head you would be forced to remove the brake booster and master cylinder. 121 Body work.jpg 122 Body work.jpg 123 Body work.jpg 124 Body work.jpg 125 Body work.jpg 126 Brake booster mount.jpg 127 Swing peddles.jpg 128 Swing peddles.jpg
