Now it’s even looking like it’s close. The seats have been out and the Jeep up on stands since probably October.

One part of this swap that was difficult was getting the brake pedal on the right side of the column. It would have been tons easier (and I’ve seen it work) to have both pedals come down on the left side of the column.

This way the pedals are very close to the factory position.

I keep the brake on the right side of the column as well. I tried it ONCE with both on the left. Always felt as I'd been driving twisted after a day of wheeling with it, so it went on the right side after that.

Roxor Seats. They’re Great. Like $70 each and come with sliders and headrests.

None of those things. No heat either.

They slide great and the backs are pretty thin making the position better for leg room.

I did drive around the block yesterday.

First time the Jeep moved in almost 5 months. :bananatool:

A couple issues to straighten out today.
    - parking brake cable from the cane is binding or pinched somewhere.
    - front upper shock mounts must be cut off and repositioned.
    - install new locking hubs.

Good news first. I can walk circles around my Jeep with the new T18 transmission!!

clutch worked well and shifted fine....

    ....for only about 4 miles.

On the way home from the gas station I couldn’t get it into 3rd or 4th. Got home and took the cover off and best I can figure is the 3rd and 4th synchro rings are jammed up somehow.

Here’s a tour of the whole thing.

    More photos to come.

I really hate taking this apart again.

    Looks great from here.

I can’t get this synchro ring to move even a tiny bit.

    Another view.

Loosen up the transfercase bolts and see if a cardboard shim does the trick.

Well I took it all out of the Jeep tonight. I didn’t poke at it much yet but I’ll see if I can loosen it up. Maybe a shim is all it needs you think? Have you ever seen this before?

Transmission to transfercase adapter in your situation. If the Transmission and transfercase are too tight the transfercase will push tight on the t-case input bearing or transmission output bearing. Some adapters have the one some have two bearings in that area. Anyway the Transmission output shaft gets shoved forward too far and the input shaft is held by the input bearing retainer. All that gets squeezed with the direct synchro on the input and clutch hub against the output shaft.

1st 2nd and reverse just overpower the bind but the synchro is pinched. 3nd blocking ring is fine and free but won't shift is it not.

Yes I had the same happen with my t90

Gaskets and thrust specs are important with the synchro gear setups. Check that first and possible bind between the two as mentioned.

Y'all think this part is supposed to be in my transmission adaptor?

Maybe? I thought they put it in there to help press on the bearings?

If you used an adapter part to press on bearings.....
I've done something similar once.

Actually I don't know. I thought you were implying it was supposed to be in there.

My Novak T18-D18 adapter is in the mail so I can't look at the instructions yet. My guess is it's there for a reason and not an included tool.

Does it shift with the transfer case separated? I'm curious if it's an end-play issue like Jw60 mentioned.
