You have figured out how to spend nearly $350.00 to get gasoline from your NOS AOL made CJ2A gas tank to your Handbuilt and tuned Weber DGV 32/36 progressive 2bbl carb.

And you thought returning a Willys to stock was expensive. Try building a Hot Rod out of one.

Well I guess its a Hot Rod. Or Street Rod or RestoMod or Custom heck I give up.

1948 CJ-2A Tub with a custom Floor the rest is mostly repop metal Original Cowl Dash Firewall toeboards tunnel and the tops and fronts of the Wheel houses. Original Front Fenders Hood Grill and A Tailgate from somewhere stamped WILLYS.

1957 CJ5 Frame Heavily modified with a 2" receiver 2A Tub mounts boxing on both ends and a Saginaw Steering mount.

Original Dana 25 with 68 Wagoneer 11" brakes

    ATV 30% Overdrive

    Original T-90A (all new gears)

Optional 9.25" clutch and flywheel from a mid 1960's CJ5

It wasn't stock when dad bought it in 1962 I saw no reason to not worry about what I wanted to build from it once it was mine.

Pics would make the thread less of the teaser. You're making it feel like a strip club where the women wear overcoats.

Some clubs I've been to, I would have gladly donated a coat or two.

Agreed! This thread is worthless without pics!! :watch:

WOuld you rather have a few photos here or check out my build thread on The CJ-2A page?

A little project update on Chug A Lug

Some of the stuff listed above is still on the parts shelves some is yet to come.

Here is the Engine as its sits now.

Here is the clutch and brake assembly all bushed up and ready to go.

And a shot of the whole dual master cylinder setup

New modified rear frame assembly. Since I had to shorten the rear frame to match the 2A tub I went ahead and put in a modern 2" receiver assembly
    [IMG]

    My shackles

    DANA 44 PORN

    New floor structure

And with the 16ga on top of it. The sheet is riveted on so no heat to warp it and the Oak strips will be held on with 10-32 Stainless button heads the oak will go all the way up over the tool box.

That should tease you enough to get you over to the Build thread.

That looks really nice. I really like the brake clutch redesign. I had to do that with mine and worked very well, but couldn't modify it more to create power brakes.

Well I had to sell my 66 Chevelle project to make room in the shop and to raise funds for the more expensive parts of the Willys build. The Chevelle itself didn't mean anything to me (I had a 67 as a young guy) but the Willys has been mine since dad bought it in 1962. It was my youth. So I guess since the Willys was never a candidate for restoration (it was already 5 different jeeps with no numbers when dad got done with it) I figured I would shove all my Hot Rod into it.

The plan is to drive it to work and car show it the first full summer after its "done" then when I have the off road camping trailer I have designed finished (that will be over a winter as I don't work much in the winter) then it will be all adventuring and such. We have a bunch of places we want to go and the wife is willing to do it in the Willys if it doesn't beat her up to much.

I like your idea of the subfloor and making it stand alone, good way to keep it square, and then weld on the body panels to it, gonna have to copy that somewhat on my CJ6.
