Got more progress done. Pretty much to the point with exception of a few little items to drop the tub on. I have some local Jeep group people coming over to help me lift the tub on Wednesday night.

With the ground water levels around here, that would be an indoor pool for a good part of the year.

The ' PIT ' ......Built it 25 years ago. We're all sand 'round 'chere . It's been a lifesaver for this 'Ol hack.
Alas, The next shop will have a fullsize Lift. The Pit is not very tire, wheel, or brake work friendly , if you know what I'm gett'n at....or not , gettn' at .

Oh .... & Downs, cut out & box in your ceiling joists to get a lift for as high as you possibly can. That's what I will most likely have to do, but it will be well worth it. :bananatool:

Well, .... not the Jeep but the trailer. Got the motor on the solar panels wired.

Then I was looking at the front of the trailer,

and noticed this on the truck awaiting the crusher.

    Hmmmmm

It fits, but only 1.5 inches left on either side....... :coffee:

After CO last year my swing out was very sloppy. I replaced the home built slip fit pivot with an EMS offroad kit. Seems sturdy, trials in less than a month. IMG_20220702_191739845.jpg

The cold and rainy season seems mostly over so it was time to take the hardtop:

Been soaking my second pair of 11” backing plates in vinegar to get the rust off them. Pulled them out, scrubbed them, and painted them. They will go on the back of the 71.

Sealed up the cowl, under the windshield, on the 71. 1700 miles on a trailer with the windshield down, bound to hit some rain. I just taped it up for the trip last year but I don’t run a heater/ defrost so there is no need for the holes.

Also pressed the bearings on the axle shafts of the flanged 44 that will go in the 3b. The other set of 11” backing plates will go here.

In an attempt to make it squeal and expose weaknesses I drove the crap out it today, like I stole it. Had it up to 60 several times, crawled the gravel roads in the watershed. Treated it like an unwanted girlfriend. Never whimpered.
Fun fact it's always dripped at the rear main, very little with the Enginetech seal but an occasional spotter. Once its down a half quart it stops  I'm theorizing its due to the slope with the T18.
Picked up half a bag of garbage in my travels. Some of those cans bore a resemblance to the ones in my cooler...
Evans been coming over at night and staying late. I got up to an order confirmation from Summit... seems there's a bikini top enroute:susp:

I think the closest I've ever come to pushing my Jeep out of the garage and deliberately setting it on fire was the day I was trying to install my rear tank. You said it...PITA!

Added some differential armor front and rear. I'm not sure I'm going to like these, they are super beefy but I think they will trap mud and dirt behind them.

Some buddies came over, and we dropped the tub in place. It's bolted down, and I also did a few other odds and ends. Tomorrow I'll be painting the air filter assembly and tubing and pedals and starting on the wiring harness. That garbage pancake K&N filter will be going in the garbage bin, it's just there to keep stuff out of the carb.

Not much to report from yesterday. Mostly deciphering the wiring diagram supplied with the new harness. The harness is excellent quality, but the directions leave a lot to be desired.

New accelerator pump diaphragm in my '56 Carter YF.

Cured hunting and surging at idle, lumpy running, high fuel consumption.

Seems the old diaphragm was getting porous, letting the carb suck fuel through the accelerator circuit.

Any coil springs or mounts in evidence, such as on an M38A1-C? Scarce items.
