Picked up the tires yesterday. A little over 7 hours total driving. It took a few hours to remove these tires from the old wheels. All I have are two motorcycle tire spoons and they weren't quite up to the task. I used half a can of brake clean to seat the darn things.

Big dumb tires  I think it looks better with a set of 33's but check out that diff clearance. I plan to head to Sicily Island this weekend to see how these work out. I know the rears will rub the fender well.

I wanted a Matt black for the inside and diamond plate, but Home Depot only had Rustolium in Gloss and Flat Black, so I bought a quart of each and mixed them together.. I'll see how it looks tomorrow
after it's set up. I painted the roll cage and bolted it in also.

Seats removed, windshield removed, hood removed, and right fender removed. Today was a good day. Did a lot of other small stuff, but that was the noteworthy stuff. The rebuild has begun... ☯️ )~^,>

Have no idea how to make photos small enough file to add. Some reason it is saying file too large on every photo...

Try sizing them down to about 800 pixels on the long side or host them someplace & put in the link with little picture icon -

Yesterday on my brother's CJ7 I got a late start and with the heat set a time limit on my self so got the front and rear seats back in, fan shroud and new wipers on. Today I went out again late start and was going to rebuild the front brakes but realized while getting parts out that I was short a few parts so said screw it called it a day went back in the AC and placed another Rock Auto order. Next day off I have I'll rebuild the rear drum brakes I have all those parts.

With my recent move to CO, I had a couple of dead trees in the front yard that did NOT have irrigation lines. Dumb! Anyway, I went to extract them with the Jeep winch and a spare tire. The winch would free spool and power spool OUT, but not spool in. Ugh. All I got was CLICK CLICK CLICK. I tapped on the solenoid box and the winch took off spooling in as it should. This kind of inconvenience would not be acceptable in a typical recovery situation. I made sure all my connections were clean and tight. They were. So SUMMIT racing to the rescue...I ordered 2 new factory solenoids for my Ramsey REP8000 model. Shown are the before and after photos. This is one example of how important it is to take photos before disassembly! I have the Ramsey manual with a diagram, but the photo is truly worth a 1,000 words. All works great now, and I'm ready for my August San Juan, CO trip!

I fired up the tractor and pulled the Rover Donor out onto the ramps so I could sit under it.
Two hours later I had the rear diff out and on the ground.
I Pressure washed it and rolled it into the shop and under the streached CJ5 frame.
Even the drive shaft flanges are the same as D18.
Not a bad afternoons work, for an Old Guy.
Perfect timing. This showed up in the mail today. I guess I need to get the front axle out next.

Loaded the green "B" for a week vacation trip to my little cabin. Not much for heavy wheeling, but a lot of back roads and forest service roads. Probably do a portion of Skyline Drive one day. Basically just time in the jeep.

I drilled and bolted the side armor on today 50 1/4" 20 gr 8 allens with stainless Nylocks.
[GALLERY=media, I need to get the final flares on also, so I had a centerline to measure back to the hat channel body mounts, before I start building the Rover diff nounts.[GALLERY=media, 8044]20210618_191432 by Rodney posted Jun 18, 2021 at 7:45 PM[/GALLERY]

Ditched the cheap Summit Turbo mufflers. The baffles seem to break loose and they make an awful noise.

These aren’t quiet. Much deeper tone. I think I can live with it.

Well, I'm back in a garage again so, I'm wrenching more regularly now. First project is fixing the stiff clutch pedal on the '71. I didn't know about pedal ratios when I put this thing together and thought that a hydraulic clutch solved all related issues. I didn't realize that no matter what the set up, your leg is still the pump. Member Tarry (where ya been bud?) schooled me on pedal ratios so, I'm working on it.

Girling clutch master cylinder was also in need of rebuild so, I'm doing that while relocating the master cylinder in order to achieve a proper 6:1 or 7:1 pedal ratio. I believe 7:1 is what you want and I'll be in the neighborhood. Whatever I end up with, it has to be better than the like 3:1 ratio I've been dealing with for the last 20 some years.

The new location interfered with the wiring harness so, had to move that as well. I'm ready to drill for the new location of the M/C, then finish welding in the plugs for the abandoned holes in the firewall, make a new line down to the slave cylinder, throw some kind of paint of it, then bleed everything and try it.

I work too slow and overthink everything. And working up under the dash of this thing isn't as easy as it was 20 years ago. Things just don't move liken they used tuh. Anyhow..........

Something is wrong. I checked all the fluids and everything was completely full except the rear Dif took about 1 oz.
    :bananatool: :clap: :bananatool::beer::bananatool::rofl::bananatool:

Tried to install a wireless remote for my winch. Didn’t work the first time so I moved a couple wire around and let out the Magic Smoke. Return to Amazon.

Installed the PTO and twist lock throttle cables. Speedo slightly obscured by the big PTO knob, I may find a smaller one. I drive mostly by tachometer and exhaust sound anyway, whatever.
Added to the sticker/magnet collection on the windshield frame. Put one of those rubber anti fatigue mats in the cargo bed so the cooler doesn't slide around. Probably rip off Fireball's hold down idea.

Upgraded the fan with an 18", 6 blade steel race fan by Derale.
    Right out of the box:

Painted the tips with white epoxy:

    Ready for install:

Installed & idling, the fan moves air like all get-out! Not much more noise than the original.

Old and new next to each other. The original is 19" tip to tip, the new 18" fan looks like it has a larger diameter here but it was sitting on a little plastic pale raising it up in this photo.

The new fan moves a lot more air which will help when sitting stopped in traffic on a hot day, and it will help when 4-wheeling in low range.

Wild Wilhelmina became Intimate with her second cousin from across the Atlantic, Land Rover Disco. I got the coil spring perch brackets from the Rover lined up and welded into the CJ5
Does the Rear Axle make her Butt look Big??
