Does anyone here have experience with an Autolite IAT-4405 vac adv distributor? It was stock on the FC 150's with the 134F. And I am sure by now a few have gotten into CJ's

I am trying to find out what Petronix ignitor kit might fit. They want a small fortune to figure it out. Hoping someone else might have already tried.

Also I know the rotor is the same as IAT-4206B, IAY-4401 use. Trying to find out if the points might be the same. It would seam if the rotor and the points are the same then possibly one of the kits for either of those two distributors might work.

I have one of those distributors and figure on installing it in the F-head some day. Be good to know that info and how the Pertronix works in it. Those distributors also were found in trucks and wagons with the F-head, far as I know.

    Oldtime will know the rest...

(How is it they want a small fortune to figure it out?)

Give Steve a call @ B&B. 973-632-5596 He is an old rodder/ tractor guy that knows these things in and out. I am sure he could help you out. Tell him Larry (OH) from the Allis page sent ya!

Also, he does excellnt wiring harness work. Send him what is left and he will build new and is as good or better than anything on the market. I realize he is on the other side of the states, but worth the call.

They didn't charge me a dime for this. I just called them and asked them if they had what I wanted and they sent it. I put it on my jeep and it works fine. When I had my backfiring problem, I figured that maybe it had something to do with it, so I repaired my old distributor -- the mechanical advance mechanism was broken -- and put it on the jeep. I still had the backfiring problem, and found out that it was due to a timing issue. I still have the old distributor on the jeep, but plan on putting the new one back on the jeep. It ran fine with it. I plan on keeping the old one just in case the other one quits, so I can just change it out if needed. By the way, the Pertronix distributor I am using is electronic and uses no rotor

Obviously your distributor was in their list that they currently have kits for.

The Autolite IAT-4405 I have is not available based on their list hence the extra cost is to either design a kit for it or for someone to trail fit existing kits looking for one that will work.

Also yours is a mechanical advance distributor MINE IS A VACUUM ADVANCE Distributor a very different critter.

Your using a Petronix Electronic Distributor in what engine. I can find NO listing for any Willys Engine in their catalog or on line.

I have been working some long hours lately and I guess it is showing. Mine is a "pointless" distributor. I am going to go get some sleep now, since I only got 3 hours last night. I should be a lot better by tomorrow. Sorry I screwed up... Later...
