Thanks to the knowledge gathered here my Jeep is back on the road. It's a 1971 CJ5 with the :v6: 225 and PTO winch. I installed a new distributor cap, wires, plugs, Pertronix 1165 with the Flamethrower coil. I also put on new Headman headers and Jones Exhaust turbo tube mufflers. I was scared of how loud it was initially with the open headers but the mufflers quieted it down dramatically and now it has a nice deep rumble. I also did a 2 inch Skyjacker Softride with the Hydro shocks, shackles and N78 15 Buckshot Mudders on the wagon wheels. At first I thought it sat a little high but its really grown on me and I'm sure it will settle a little. I have also painted the mufflers since the photos so you can't really see them unless you are close. It's been on the road a week or so and I have actually had people waiting around at gas stations and parking lots wanting to ask questions about it and tell me how much they like it. Next step is to get rid of the tractor seats and install some low backs and figure out a way to get my 6 year old secured so we can take it out and play a little.

This is before I removed the carpet and found the floor pans had been replaced. Looks like the PO used tin snips and pop rivets to put the panels in. It works but hopefully one day I can get it fixed.

Here you can see the 10 leaf front springs were shot and resting on the bumpstop. Needless to say it rode a little rough.

New springs and shocks. The bias buckshots took a little bit of weight to balance as you can see. After an alignment they actually don't ride bad at all. I did lots of research on them and really didn't find any bad reviews and they just look cool to me.

Thanks again. or if you prefer :coffee:

Nice! I like the Buckshots! Check SmittybiltDepot for your seats...they seem to have the best price.

If you're patient you can find deals on seats. I bought these off CL for $35 (pair). Had to travel 4hrs round trip...Worth every mile.
