    Ok ready for this.
We took the 11" drum brake "kit" drum off my 1962 five. It is a solid drum and is thicker, and has a wider outside edge, than the ones on the 74 CJ6 and a 72 Commando. The ones on the 74 and 72 have concentric rings around them. The 11" kit would not allow a 15X8 rivited Rengade steel rim to fit nor the stock 62 15X5 rim. Now the 11" drums from the CJ6 and Commando fit over the pads of the kit and not only did the Renegade rim fit but so did the stock 15x5" 1962 rim!
Now the next question. What were they thinking w/ a rivited 15X8 rim?
Wouldn't that mean that it needs an inner tube, in the late 60's!

That sounds about right. I know my original narrow (5" I think) rim didn't fit my 11" drums after the upgrade. My drums are the non-finned kind, just smooth and plain. I found "regular" steel rims with about a 9" width or so fit OK. Most anything out of a junkyard with the right bolt pattern and the large center hole should work. It's the narrow rims that have the most trouble with the larger drums.

If the riveted rim is not an air tight setup it will require a tube. Seems like my original narrow rim had some riveting but it took a tubeless tire without any problem.

IIRC the 8" Renegade wheels were Kelsey-Hayes, and SOTA at the time. A few years before my time - can't say from first-hand experience - but almost certainly tubeless!
