Will the 11" front backing plates off a 76 CJ work on my M38 rear axle aside from not having the E-brake holes as well as different wheel cylinder size?

Even though the wheel cylinders are different F/R, do they still have the same mounting bolt spacing?

They wont work unless you have enough metal to redrill, or fill the hoels and redril the pattern. the later rear brakes are 4 bolt flange, the earlier is 6 bolt. you can use the front 11 inch brakes from the 70's jeps, they have a 6 bolt pattern.

Thanks for the quick response. Just to clarify - the front 11" brakes from the 76 CJ will work on my rear axle since they are both 6-bolt?

The reason I'm asking these questions is that I'm converting to disc brakes on the front axle. I also wanted to swap my rear 11" Willys Wagon brakes to something a bit more "modern" and to have it where the drums just pulled off the studs rather than having to remove the wheel bearings everytime I wanted to check the brakes.

yes they should be a bolt on affair. i do not believe there will be any issues with the spacing in the rear, but there will be somebody else with that info, but as far as i know it it is a bolt on deal.

    X2.
The wheel cylinders are smaller for the back but only by the inside dia.

    Yes.
Just use rear wheel cylinders for a '75 CJ. Will bolt up fine. Nickmil
