I've got a lot of play in the steering. It seems to be coming from two spots. The joint (bell?) between the box and the shaft, and the lower column.. It looks like there are a few places that sell the rebuild parts for the bell but the lower column is a different story. From what I can tell the part number is 10.346-1, I found this

unfortunately it is sold out. Does that look like the correct part for the lower shaft? And does anybody know of another source to get one? from what I read these can be hard to get.

At $30 each it's a good thing they are sold out.

I've replaced the lower column bushing with a flanged oiled bronze bushing from McMaster-Carr. IIRC the shaft is 3/4" and the column ID is 1". Check your dimensions as yours could differ. That size is only $3.19, you'll pay more than that in shipping.

Hey cool. I was thinking thirty bucks was way better than an after market column for around $350, plus the needed shaft for another 300 bucks. But $3.19 would be great! And bronze instead of nylon to boot!
    Thanks for the link
