    I'm looking to make some brackets for a rear seat. Can someone make a sketch with dimensions of their brackets for me? There are two types, one made from tubing and one from a flat bar. I'm looking for the flat bar type. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Unfortunately my CJ-6 does not have a back seat, so I can't give you any measurements.

    Rear seat bracket.

    The bracket is made from 1" x 3/16" flat stock, 6 3/8" long. The hole for the seat pin is centered 2 1/4" from the end of the side with short end bend which is 1 1/8". The longer end bend is 2 1/8" and the center is approximately 3". The bracket is bent up probably a little more than 1/4" so that the 1/4" flat on the rear seat will just fit. Under the rear bed there is a U channel bent sheet steel backup plate 6 3/8" long 1" wide with 3/16" curved channels on each side. It looks like they used 5/16" x 1" carriage bolts with lock washers and nuts. All the brackets look the same, the front brackets have holes too, but not used. The rear holes are drilled through the rear floor and the fronts are not.

    I believe mine are original and have never been removed. I did not take one off to measure, so measurements are approximate.

    Oops, didn't mean to steal that pic! Lol just found it on google. How about the brackets that bolt to the seat? (The black metal part in the pic I posted) Thanks again for the help!

    Hmm, my back seat sits on top of the fenders. Is my setup an aftermarket addition? Is there any way to age these? It's in a CJ5, but came out of a 3B

    None of the forward-facing factory seats mounted to the top of the fenders, AFAIK.

    Those are the floor mount part, which I already have. I'm lookibg for the part in the pic I posted (the part that bolts to the seat).

    Sorry I did not reread the whole post, you need the part that attaches to the seat,right? A pair of those just showed up on eBay also.

    When I was a kid my Dad bought a brand new 76 cj5 with a back seat from the dealer. I don't know if it was factory but the seat was a match in material for the front seats. The mountins for the rear seat was angle iron that set on the rear fenders and the seat acutally hung. No part of it touched the floor. No seatbelts for us kids back in the day. Matter of fact, shortly after the seat was removed and Mom cut a scrap of orange/rust/yellow shag carpet for the back so we could just play.

    I guess my Dad tossed the seat because I was not able to find it when I looked last time I was at their home in Tennessee. Of course I cant find any picts on the internet. and it might have been a dealer seat. He bought it in Chattanooga TN.

    Fwiw, I just checked the rear seat brackets on mine that are out of a 1968 cj5,and they are pipe not flat.

    My guess is that one is homemade. I have an original 50's CJ5 rear seat that I bought from a member here, and while the mounting concept is the same, the construction is very different.

    I know I'm pulling up an old thread-are these flat ones produced/sold by anyone?

    If so just looking at cost vs time/materials to make them. Easy enough but if they are cheap enough----
