Hello, have a 74 cj5 been driving for many years. Getting ready to do an off frame. Know pretty well which way i want to go with the rebuild, but am looking at the springs, it has the 10 leaf pack. Those things make the ride rough. It has had a lift kit under it but, am going back to stock height. What springs, and how many leafs, can i get away with. Also close to stock tires and wheels also. Getting in my senior years and it is harder to get in jeep with 33×12.50's. Recommendations?

The factory _standard_ springs had 7 leaves front, 5 rear (3/2). The rears had 3 main leaves and two thick, flat overloads. IIRC Dayton is making or importing stock replacement springs now, and they are available many places.

I put BDS springs under my CJ-6, and am very happy with them. They list them as a 2.5" lift, but they are not terribly high. You could also consider Skyjackers.

Ok maybe 3 choices - custom - Deaver, Santa Ana CA or Alcan Grand Junction CO. Get exactly what you want, highest quality, for premium price.
Lift springs - BDS or Skyjacker I guess. I have BDS on my CJ-6 and am pleased with them. They are advertised as 2.5" lift but they are not much higher (maybe an inch?) than the original "Heavy duty springs and shocks" that came on these Jeeps. Maybe also Rancho or Rough Country - not sure if they are still in production, but both have a reputation for being really stiff.
OEM replacement - pretty sure that Dayton Spring is supplying a line of OEM replacement springs. Not sure whether they are domestically produced or "overseas." Omix-Ada also sells OEM replacement springs, but Omix is pretty much universally hated. You can get a 7/5 combo from either.

How wide were stock wheels, and what tire size?

    H78-15, 6" wide wheels.

Gernerally 34s will rub, maybe 33s. HD or standard - or lift - doesn't make much difference re tire size.
