I need new rear springs for my 47 CJ-2A, 1 3/4 wide, and since I have flat, old Rancho 2 1/2 lift, and am going from 33 to 35 (actually 34.7) tires I'm looking for a 4 or 4 1/2 lift spring.

I can't find anything except the Black Diamond 3 inch kit for $ 594.00 ! Rancho used to make a 4 1/2 but no more, and it appears no one else may either?

Does anyone have any suppliers, urls, or ideas where I can find these?

Sure I could go with wranglers as most have, but I'd like to not spend the bucks, and the downtime to convert everything to deal with wranglers, if there is another way. I'd rather be wheelin' :)

    Any help?

    TIA,

    Ken

be careful, the 4" kit in that link is for cj-5's only... the spring lengths are different. I looked all over the place for a 4 inch kit when i did my lift. I couldnt find anything bigger than black diamonds 3" kit.
In the end i went with the superlift 2.5" kit with a mild shackle lift and custom body lift. Clears 35' with no problems at all.

click on this link http://www.superlift.com/suspension/jeep/46-CJ.asp and then on 2.5 inch lift systems and then on application guide. It will give you the correct part numbers to order. If you click on the 4 inch lift systems, you will see the 4 inch stuff is for cj-5.

You could look into custom springs. Alcan will make them for you to give you the lift and ride quality you want. I've heard they really aren't much more than what you would pay for a premium kit...

A friend of mine runs Alcan springs. He managed to bend one because his shackle flipped. Alcan replaced it no questions asked. You could also use the CJ 4" lift from Superlift and move the spring hangers to accomodate the different length springs. Maybe?

I've already been in touch with alcan. They want $ 190.00 a corner, plus moving and changing hangers, shackles & u-bolts to match wrangler specs. If I was going to have to do that there are cheaper / easier alternatives.

    Thanks for that suggestion, though.

Try JC Whitney. I bought my 2 1/2" superlift kit thru them, I think they had a 4" too. I'm selling me 2 1/2" springs if you decide to stay with that height.

Please send a PM with details, condition, price, location etc. Or email at: ken(at)pantheus(dot)com

I did order the 35x12.5x15, ProComp XTerrains, and will decide what has to happen to make them work. That may include 2 1/2 lift that is still 2 1/2. My rears are flat, but one couldn't expect much else from 20+ year old springs, that were soft in the first place. Especially when I used to carry too much weight in the rear, before towing the Bantam ( and getting rid of too many heavy spare parts).
