OK, this project is being sold. I don;t have the time to swap in a 360. If anyone wants parts or the whole project, let me know. over 7k invested...
The pushrods were the same legnth. The motor only had 67k miles on it, but from the bent push rods, I can only assume it was over revved and...
It has run with the HEI and the truck avenger with no problems. When I replaced the bent push rods I should have assumed there was more to that...
Nope...not really a timing issue.I check TDC about 5 times. I havn;t fired it in about a week since the loud popping. Couldn;t get it to fire...
its the 670 version. I wanted to keep the same carb if i swapped out to a 360...and the 304 has an intake and headers..so it should be oK. My...
It ran very well with the old points distributer and new coil, but I replaced to an HEI, installed a truck avenger and resealed the intake. I...
I'll be building mine when it comes time to stretch. I'll be using 3/16ths wall...either 2x3 or 2x4. Just weld the joints well and then fishplate...
cool/ I was unaware there was a difference between popping and back firing. I haven;t had time this week to work on it, but It sounds like a...
SOA with a flat spring will outflex and SUA all day long, but for 35s the SUA lift is easier and will be cheaper in the long run. SOA requires...
You can run 35s on a SUA lift. I am running about 2" of lift and 33s, but will not change the lift when I go to 35s or 37s. I ran 36 iroks on an...
TJs have coil springs, YJs have leafs. YJs are about 1" longer than CJ springs...but basically the same thing. IMO SOA and stock wheelbase on a...
CJ7s came with 2" wide front springs and 2.5" wide rear springs. They should be much more stable than your stock 5s springs. Upgrade the front to...
This is kind of what I am thinking to. It feel like it has a miss and with the timing light showing a miss, I may need to do a compression check...
Backfiring under load and a tad above idle. I am sure there is an exhaust leak, and make an intake leak since I wasn;t too happy with my RTV job...
OK. 74' 304, Edelbrock intake, truck avenger carb, HEI, gapped at .050 and fenderwell headers. Why is it back firing out of the exhaust badly....
yeah, it's wired correctly. I must just be getting feedback through the relay. I'll likely just put an inline fuse and be doe with it.
Question: I wire a relay in to my HEI like above with a 40A relay. I used the neg battery terminal as ground.....but the jeep would never shut...
Yeah, I tapped off the old coil wire. I may have the one that doesn;t go to the solenoid. I wired it through a relay...but I think I'll swap out...
OK! I figured it out. Like a moron, I put the distributor gear on upside down, so the rotor was never spinning! Changed that it it fired right up....
OK...still no luck! I have a 12v source. Check I have verified TDC multiple times. Check I have the rotor point at #1 cylinder on the cap....
