On the '71, I swapped to 11" drums, and drilled them for better wet performance after deep crossings. Worked great!

The '71 would do that periodically.
Sticking lifters was part of the problem.
I started substituting a quart of MMO with my oil changes, that helped.
I had frame rot issues. See my photobucket album for how I fixed it.

AFAIK, D20/centered D44 wasn't used until '72 in combo with the longer frame/drivetrain
IIRC, there is a 4 cyl brake pedal and a V6 brake pedal. The V6 pedal has more of a bend in it for clearance. No one makes new/replacement pedal...

I swapped a '74 D30 into my '71.
I stayed with the 11" drum set up, got new drums for a '75 DJ, and drilled them. Good as discs, wet and dry.
Well... the stock configuration in '64 did not have lock out hubs, it had drive flanges.
This doesn't mean it had "full-time 4WD" as we know it...
I'd give some serious thought to swapping in that whole D30...
