Emergency Brake Cable and V6

I have a buick v6 in my Willys cj3a. I cant remember how the emergency brake cable mounted on the firewall. Did it mount on the firewall or on some bracketry somewhere. Was the bracket mounted to the old engine or the oil air cleaner? Is the setup going to be different with the v6? Its been so long i cant remember. Im sure you guys know.

 

Mine originaly just went through a rubber grommet in the firewall and then curved around and went down to the frame to a small round bracket and then went on to the em. brake. I got rid of all of that because no matter how hard I pulled I couldn't really ever make the em. brake hold the Jeep from rolling if it was on any sort of grade. I ended up getting a em. brake lever out of a Honda Civic and mounted it on the floor between the gas tank and the tool box and it now works very well.

 

There is a little bracket that is bolted to the tub and there is a clamp on the cable that bolts to it. And then there is a clip that the speedo cable and parking brake cable go in which snaps to a hole in the side of the tranny. And then it bolts to the tranny cross member with another clamp.

FWIW, the original parking brake setup does work real well wen properly adjusted. I've had no issues with mine since the restoration. Your brake shoes could be worn or the turn buckle down at the transfer case needs to be adjusted.

 

Ok thanks, that helps. Now i need to go through my junk box and find the bracket lol. I will have to look at it this weekend, (its at my dads place) I cant remember if the v6 covers up that hole or not.
