    Yup, plain ole Dana 20.
BTW, if you scroll your mouse pointer over the image it gives you several options for embeding code. Click on the one that says "IMG coding" and paste it here. Like this.

The one shown in the pic is a '72-'79 CJ 20 transfer case. Be aware there are many flavors of 20 depending on what application they were use in. For example, Wagoneer/PU's used several different ones depending on transmission they were used behind, Jeepster Commando's were different, Scout's were different (all had different linkage, shift rails, and front output housings), and the Early Bronco used two versions of the 20 that has very little in common with anything Jeep.

Being as CJ's didn't come with a 360 that isn't much of of an indicator. See above post about transfer case I.D.

    Nope. Never.

The only V8 offered in CJs was the 304.

Some dealers installed 401s in the '70s, but only the 304 came from the factory.

are the gears ratios all the same ? I know the bronco ratios are different ,and that you can use those gears to re gear the jeep case, but how much different are they ?

AFAIK all the Jeep Dana 20s have a 2.03:1 low range. A quick net search shows that Ford used two LR ratios in the Dana 20, early 2.46:1 and later 2.34:1. To regear the Jeep D20, you mix D20 and D18 gears, plus a single gear from the early Ford D20. As I recall, the Ford gear is being reproduced, so the changeover is fairly easy.

What Timgr said. You need to use the 18-8-37 slider gear from the Early Bronco T shift transfer case for the 2.46-1 conversion in the 20. Some grinding on the inside of the case is necessary to clear that gear as well.
