'79 is a 2V carb (the Carter BBD) and won't bolt on.

'75-78 are all YF 1Vs, like your carb. They will bolt on, but they have differences from year to year that the parts catalog does not describe. Each year has its own part number and model designator: YF7040, 7109, 7110, 7231 for '75-78 resp.

If it's a 1V carb, it will bolt on and I would guess that it will work if there's nothing broken.

Hmm. They must have a reason why it's limited to '75-76, but I can't see any reason why it would be. Possible that it expects more exhaust gas than earlier carbs do, so it's leaner than the earlier carbs. If I needed a carb, I'd take a risk.

Give me a minute to check something...

Ok, linkage looks the same, as best as I can tell from the parts book.

Emissions stuff doesn't make any sense for the '75-76 range. The '75 49-states had no EGR, but the '74 and '76 did. So likely that isn't it.

From my sources, I can't see any obvious reason why it would not work. No guarantee... at $95, it isn't free, but it is also a new carb, which are scarce these days.

Kind of along the same lines. A friend of mine had the Holley 1v in his '70 or '71 Scout with the 232. He later swapped it out for a Rochester Mono-Jet when the Holley went south and he had the Mono-Jet sitting on a shelf anyway.

I think it just needed a rebuild. The Scout had been sitting for about 8 yrs. when he got it and it never did clean up right. He had the Mono-Jet so he went the easy way.
