In doing a quick once over under the hood, I noticed that the air filter 'horn" that attaches to the top of the carb was loose. I tightened the clamp as far as it would go, and it was still loose. So I looked in my FSM and there is supposed to be a gasket that sits atop the carb where the air filter horn mounts, to seal this up, which mine does not have. Does anyone have a part number or a source for this gasket? FYI, it is a Solex carb.

    Thanks!

Sorry I dont have a part number but I have a quick fix. Neither the solex or carter yf I have had one. I ended up using a piece of shrink tubing (without heating it) fitted into the grove in the air horn. It works and I cant hear an air leak.

Walck's has a part for it but like lots of repro parts it is made of rubber-like material that will hold up for a year at best.

You could always trace one out on a piece of cardboard, like a cereal box.

For what its worth, I found a solution that works for me. Stretched 2 rings of bicycle inner tube rubber over the top of the carb. Sits flush with the top of the carb and goes all the way down over the triangular rib that the clamp mounts to. Tightened up great, very solid! Even sounds different, no air leaks.

He doesn't have a Carter, he has a Solex. Different setup entirely. Doesn't use a flat gasket.
