    Hello and good morning!

I am having turn signal issues and I tried a search on the "Yankee Turnflex" and did not come up with anything.

    Here is the status:

    - Passenger turn signal flashes both front and rear and passenger brake light also illuminates properly.
    - Passenger turn signal indicator on speedo flashes properly.
    - Driver turn signal does NOT flash but driver brake light illuminates properly.
    - Driver turn signal indicator on speedo does NOT flash.
    - Turn signal indicator on steering column does not function at all.

Next step is to check grounds on all lights and to inspect the "Turnflex".

    Any other suggestions?

Has it ever worked correctly since you have owned it? Does it sit outside without a cover? What model number is the Turnflex?

I'm sure that that's actually a SignalStat turn signal. I know there are several sites that have wiring diagrams and hook up instructions posted on the net for them. Search for one of those sites and follow the instructions there and I'm sure they will work. But be aware that they can be connected in a number of different configurations depending on how you wire the lights, particularly if the turn signal lamps and brake lamps are separate or if they use the same lamp. So you may have to find the correct diagram for the way that you want to connect them. I have one NIB with the instructions and IIRC they show something like seven different ways to hook it up!

That is a Yankee Turnflex 730/733, it says so right on it. Google it that way, I found wiring instructions for mine and hooked it all up it works fine, I'm gonna bet some wires are crossed. Turnflex made a few versions, some wire coloring is different between the models.

Can anybody identify the bulbs that go inside it? mine are missing.

Check that front turn signal for burned out filiment, or bad ground. It should also light up when the light switch is pulled on.

A GE53 12v 1.7 amp (miniature) or equiv will work just fine. Some advertise as 14.4Volt. This is the bayonet type. Yours could be the screw type...

It sat outside without a cover before I bought it. I had to trailer it home in the rain the night I bought it as well.

The two front turn signal lights should light up when the light switch is pulled out? They do not light up at all when the lights are pulled all the way out, but the passenger front turn signal does work when the Turnflex is switched that way.

I believe your problem is in the Turnflex due exposure. a good cleaning of the internal contacts is in order and if your unit has the small bulb then it should be the 6V GE51 or equiv.

Depends on how your light switch was wired to begin with. Mine is wired so those front turn signals (which on mine have dual element bulbs in them) come on as running lights at the first indent, then go off at the full out (headlights on) position. I just left it that way when I replaced the switch.

Process of elimination thing. If your brake lights work but only one side turn signals work then the culprit is probably the other side front signal light. Could be a bad ground, or it just picked up enough dust to make the light bulb not make contact like it should.

Mine is wired the same way as yours then! I will dig into this mess tomorrow afternoon and report back with what the culprit was. Thanks everyone!

Here is the update: Turns out that both driver side front and rear bulbs had a broken filament in the dual element bulbs. One was a 1154LF (rear) and front was 1158. Are these going to be common in the local auto parts store?

Doubtful they will have them in stock, unless they are a large, old parts store. But any parts sotre should be able to get them for you with a few days notice.

What little I could turn up says that the 1154 and 1158 are equivalent. If all else fails, you can get them from RockAuto in a box of 10 at ca $1.50 each. Enter the PN on the web page.

I found 1154 bulbs at the local Oreillys. The 1158 bulb has symmetric captive posts while the 1154 has staggered posts. I will try a place called Southern Armature for the 1158s.

Update. I ground down one side of an extra 1154 and put it into the front. Everything is working great!
