I don't think there's anything particularly special about the F134, when compared to engines of its era. But it's an old design, with origins dating back to the 1930s. You might want to ask around local shops and parts houses and see who the go-to guy is for old engines. Lots of shops will tell you "oh sure, we can do that" - but some of them will be straight with you and send you to a shop that specializes in old iron.

I expect that magnaflux will tell you what you need to know - head, block and crank.

That engine was used up into the '70s so any shop that has been around a while would probably be familiar with it. When I took my block and head to a local machine shop, the guy immediately said "hey, that's an old F-head from a Jeep" so I was instantly comfortable with him working on it.

I will testify, though, that having never torn one down before, it was amazingly simple. If you've done V8s you would have no trouble working on this engine, especially with a good book at your disposal. In many ways, an engine is an engine. They all have cranks, cams, pistons, etc. The way things are put together may differ from one to the next but any good manual will provide you (or a mechanic shop) with that information.

I am rather fond of F-heads. My years of speeding here and there are, for the most part, over. I agree with Stout strongly.

I have a 63 CJ5 with the F-Head and I know it isn't a power house, but I like the sound of it and plan on keeping it. I also like the f-heads.

Actually I am related to quite a few f-heads.

One of my brothers is an f-head.

Several of my cousins are f-heads.

I even have an uncle or two that is kind of an f-head.

You just can't beat the nostalgia of the f-head.
