I have the opportunity to pick up a rebuilt 231. The guy says it's an 82-87 rear wheel drive engine. Would this 231 go in place of my 225 without much headach?

If it is a rear wheel motor, and comes with a fly wheel, just pop it in. If you have to use your fly wheel, you may want to think about getting a neutral balance on it. Do a search on info for the flywheel balance.

Thanks Warloch. I've read the info on here about swaping and such here. With the engine being an 80's model I wasn't sure if there had been some changes. I'll look into the flywheel. Thanks!

If you wheel the Jeep you will want to keep the 225 flywheel. Get it balanced to the 231.

I am going to stick with the 225. I found another 225 close to me. Going to go pick it up this weekend. Should be a fun project. Hopefuly I'll have it redy to go in this fall, in time for hunting.
