Does anyone see possible issues with this direction for paint.

I remebered I have a 1944 dated USMC stamped jerry can in my WW2 collection and the OD paint on that is original. So could I take that to Farm and Fleet and have them mix me up a batch of Equipment enamal using the jerry cans paint to color match?

Krylon Camo Green isn't too far off... but if you want real OD there are plenty of vendors who make the WWII stuff.. But expect arguments on what the correct shade is..

I didn't know Farm and fleet mixed paint.. can they add flattener so it has no gloss?

I called Farm and Fleet to inquire about the paint mixing and they said they can make any equipment enamel I need.

Just picked up the custom made OD paint. It looks spot on compared to the WW2 gas can I brought for them to color match.

The trailer is being dissasembled tonight and the prep work for sandblasting being done. Tomorrow evening the trailer is being sand blasted and painted.

Well after some hang ups with thew shop Im working with to have the trailer restored it finally got around to sandblasting. However they sandblasted the data plates thus ruining the originality of the trailer in my opinion......not too happy. So its decided Im converting it to a WW2 T3 trailer now that the original data plates are destroyed.. Got the tail gate taken off, the tail lights, tool box and mounts for the trailer light wire box. Pics to come.

The trailer will be finished before June 11th as thats its debut at the first WW2 reenactment of the season.

I'd be very unhappy...I guess I don't understand why people do things like that. It should be obvious- classic/ antique/ restoration or not, that those shouldn't be blasted.

Im really ticked about it. However since this happened I dont feel bad at all about converting it to a WW2 trailer now.

The guys shop thats working on it (who is a good friend of mine) has been pushing me to turn the trailer into an offroad trailer rig, he has also been trying to get me to turn my stock Cj5 into an offroad rig. He does not understand at all the allure of restoring to factory condition. However his shop does great work and the end product will look great.

Anyway here are some pics after sandblasting.

There is still some sandblasting that needs to be done to the hitch section. On Monday all the extra stuff added by the previous owner will be cut off and a new rear panel is going to be welded on. The trailer should be ready for painting on Friday.

Got alot more done on the trailer today. Everything that was added by the previous owner is now removed and everything that was unique to the M100 had been removed also. In short there is now nothing that distinguishes this trailer from a WW2 T3 trailer. I also began welding in a new rear panel.

Only a couple of afternoons are left in working on the trailer and it will be painted and finished. Pictures of the progress will be posted on Wednesday.

The rear panel has been welded in today. The metal I used was very thin (same thickness as the trailer) so there was some warping which means a night of hammering, shaping and bondo is in my future.

Anyway the trailer is scheduled to be ready for painting after an afternoons worth of work on Friday. Again I have been taking lots of pictures and will post them tomorrow morning.

Here are some more in progress pics. The wheels are being sand blasted and WW2 tires mounted. The trailer is going in for a final sand blasting latter this week.

Here is a picture showing how the trailer will be used in my USMC displays.

Also picked up some 30s wood folding chairs and built a WW2 US folding field table from plans and pictures I found.

Well I got the tires ordered today, cost dang near $300 plus the $40 its gonna cost to install them on the rim. Unfortunetly they wont be here until next week so the trailer wont have the correct tires for its first reenactment. However it will have them for the next one on the 18th!

Are you going to correct the tongue drop or the extra metal hanging off the back end? Sems like a Sawzall would take care of both problems pretty quickly, if you have a way to reweld the tongue back together.

THe rest of the trailer is looking very much like an in use army unit. THey weren't straight and dent free for long if anyone used them.

The extra metal hanging off and correct hitch will be fixed at some point, probably over the winter.

Anyway the rear panel has been welded in completely now and the top of it finished as well. Also all the little holes and such around the trailer have been welded up too. By the end of today it will be ready for a final sand blasting and then its off to the paint booth.

The trailer did however sit outside for two weeks in the rain.....so it has a nice covering of very light surface rust now that will be blasted off lolz. But something neat happened, the rust brought out the faint ghost outline of the white star and some other markings on the trailer that didnt get completely blasted away the first time. Its kinda neat, Ill post some pics of it.

The official day for sandblasting and painting has been set by the shop. It will be sandblasted Wednesday and painted Thursday and ready for pick up Friday just in time to take to the WW2 reenactment this coming weekend on Friday night. Ill take lots of pics of her in action at the reenactment.

Its finally done, the trailer is finished and painted. The very last thing to do is mount the military NDTs to it. The people I gave the trailer to for sand blasting and painting kinda dragged a bit on getting it done. However the price and final product is very very nice. Ill post some pics up in a day or so. Also it will make its official appearance at a WW2 reenactment in late September so Ill take some pics of it in my USMC display as well.

Here it is, all done. For the complete restoration I need to install a pintle hook and put combat tires on it.
