Finally got her on her wheels! ('59 CJ5 restoration)

I started the restoration of my '59 in November. Here is what she looked like after the tub was removed.

Here are some after pictures. The paper I was using to paint the leaf springs on stuck to them a little but I can fix that. Also ignore the dirty fingerprints on everything, I didn't wash it before the photos.

Now I will start putting the engine back together, got it back from the machine shop all nice and clean. Transmission/transfer case need gone over, cleaned up, and painted. The body from WO should be here in a week or two.

I hope to have it on the road this summer.

Did you paint the retainers that hold the felt knuckle seals in? If left natural, they WILL rust. Hate to see that on such a purdy looking running gear!

The tires are taller than I expected but they should fit fine.

The challenge now is to not burn myself out. I work on it every night and weekend. Mostly I'm getting tired of degreasing, sanding, and cleaning!

Every Jeep deserves a good cleaning every 50 years or so. She'll be ready for another one around 2061.

Fantastic job, looks great. I'm doing a lot of the same things and I know how hard it is to get it to that state. Looks like you've done all the nasty stuff, the rest will be fun. Keep the progress reports coming.

Made tons of progress since I last posted. The engine is rebuilt and back together, the transmission/transfer case reconditioned, clutch assembly/bellcrank all redone, and the driveshafts. Now I am working on the steering components and then the chassis will be done.

By the way, Chrysler Hemi Orange appears to be a spot-on match for Felpro orange.

The problem with everything being black, it is difficult to get good pictures.

I need to push it outside to get better pictures, everything is too dark.
