I have a 1971 CJ5 with a 225 V6. For some time I have been kicking around using a automatic transmission in my Jeep. Though the 400 turbo is a little long. I just found a BOP pattern 350 transmission mated to a Dana 205 transfer case. I am hoping to get some input on if this would be a good combo to use in a CJ5. I am not a hard core off road racer. Just looking to make the CJ5 more user friendly.

Dana 205? Sure that isn't a New Process, NP205?
Solid transfer case, used in full sized trucks up to 1-ton but it's big enough you would have troubles fitting it between the frame rails of a CJ.

Yes my mistake NP 205. I seem to not be thinking real clear today. I just got off the phone with the person selling it. And forgot about the 205 being centered for the rear. I guess his set up would not just bolt in, I would still have to change the rear end or fit a Dana 18 to the 350. The price was so enticing I got carried away.

It appears the whole set up is about nine inches longer then my t14 d18 set up so the rear drive line would end up only about nine inches long. I think this might not work very well though.
Some how I thought the turbo 350 transmission ended up only about three inches longer then the t14 after you add in for the bell housing.

If you have a real BOP TH350 4WD trans . then you'll only need transfer case adapter . had Buick auto in jeep for few years . drive shaft in rear will only be 14" long .didn't have any problems with it

I when looking for a overdrive I came across a AW372L 4 speed non electronic automatic (It's gear ratios are: [1] 2.83:1 [2] 1.49:1 [3] 1.00:1 [4] 0.73:1 [R] 2.70:1).

But then dropped the idea when I realized I could get better gearing and the same overdrive using a t-18/Dana 18 combo with Warn OD.

Here is a post that got me considering putting it behind the dauntless it in the first place

then I seen this
http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?p=2449315 showing that a dana 300 could be put behind it.

I never got far enough into calling any adapter companies and seeing about bell housing options for the dauntless before going out and buying the T-18.

I am guessing you are saying using a Dana 18 behind the BOP 350. And I will end up with a drive line of 14 inches. One of the reasons I wanted to move forward with this was the total price of both the transfer case and the transmission together. I did look up the adapter for a D18 and Turbo 350 on Novak website and it appears to run about $500 dollars. Maybe I should just score the combo now and if lucky just sell the NP205 to cover (edit / some of the) costs.

I don't think you will get anywhere close to $500 for a 205. My experience is that they sell for about the same as an D18-a lot of them out there. I bought a complete SM465/ NP203 doubler/NP205 with bellhousing for $1000. The doubler kit runs someplace around $600-700 so the trans and 205 were maybe worth $100 each.
