someone here was making some chain covers and i can't find the thread anymore...

my top choice would be a canvas or cloth type cover but am open to ideas, and i would like to know if the ones posted here earlier are still for sale.

    thanks, chris

    What are they listed under?

I'm looking for some covers myself and could find the info on the search either.

    For Q&D, use bicycle tubes.

I just use the large heat shrink tubing. I have found that there are various grades of this but even the thin wall hs tubing works well.

Same here. Nice thing about that stuff is you can find it in a variety of colors. I took a paper hole punch and punched a hole in the middle of each tube to allow water to drain out so the chains don't rust.

I am still selling them. Been out on a lot of fires lately so I haven't been posting much. They go for $10.00 a set made out of new Yellow 1 inch Canvas Coverd, Rubber Lined Fire Hose. You can spray paint them any color you want later. That includes shipping for the $10.00 not a bad deal. Just send me a Email at bigpaws@bigpawspantry.com Thanks, Mark H.

    NO!!!

I am starting to get a little annoyed with them.

they told me it would be ready to ship over a week ago. I called last friday, no answer or callback. they called monday and said it would be ready wednesday and they would call me with shipping info. no call wed, thurs or fri

i am going to call them again monday to see whats up, but this is not good. i was going to go on a long trip next weekend and it would be nice to have a spare tire!

Can you tell me where to buy the chain with the proper ends? My tailgate has nothing but a bolt and nut on both sides from the PO. I would like to install chains with proper ends. It looks like there is a hook on one end that would act as the latch?

    Welcome!

Better to start a new thread. The chains are a different topic than the covers, and the last post was from 2005.

Have you tried the Jeep specialty suppliers listed in the sticky thread at the top of the forum? Walcks maybe?

If you can't find them there, try an "old truck" specialty retailer. The old Chevy and Ford trucks had tailgate chains, and just about everything is available for old Chevy trucks.
