IMO...Racks are for independent suspension, which is where they should stay.

I'm thinking weird tow in/out as the axle articulates.

IIRC the rack was attached to the axle.

There's a lot I'm not getting from reading the description but it seems that they only connect the rack to the passenger side hub and a regular tierod from there across to the driver side hub.

Aren't they just using the rack to push/pull the bell crank? That's what I got out of the article. Seems like it would work pretty well.

<edit> I was mistaken, after re-reading, It appears they attach the rack to to driver side knuckle. Not sure how well that would work in a jeep with a fair amount of flex. I do think, however, that attaching a rack to the bell crank from the frame might actually work pretty well.

That was my first take on it as well, like you I had to read through it a few times. I'm still trying to figure out exactly where the darn thing mounts, from my reading it seems to be right in the middle of the radiator:rofl:

In this case I think a picture would be worth *more* than a thousand words.

I live in Wheat Ridge, Colo., right next to Arvada. I left a message on the ewillys site to get some contact info. I'll pass it or pic's along if they respond.

I headed to Arvada last summer to see what's up with this.
He didn't have anything in his shop to show me other than a few pics.
There was supposed to be another install going on in a few weeks, he was going to call me, I never got a call.
I might try again in a few weeks, my brother is still interested too.
The price sort of scared me off ($600+ for parts)

Dauntlesspowered's Jeep had rack and pinion steering when he got it. It was a mess.

Why re-invent the wheel? Saginaw is heavy duty enough to handle the stress of off-road use, you can minimize bump steer, and it flat out works! Too many issues with Rack and pinion like finding one small enough to fit but heavy duty enough to hold up...

The rack is mounted under the left frame rail, not under the radiator and it just pushes and pulls the passenger side spindle arm.

I guess I'm missing something here, what do you gain with R&P over saginaw?
