fuel line diagram needed

I know I’m :dead horse: But, I did a search but found no pixs or diagram. What I have is a 69 CJ5 V6 under the seat fuel tank. My PO had nothing but a rubber fuel line hose from the tank to the fuel pump and it was pieced in 3 places. It runs out between the seats to the under side of the tub, over the muffler ( held above the muffler to the tub with a clamp), runs along next to the rear brake in-line brake switch, running next to the master cylinder, next to steering box and steering arm, (I’m worried about it rubbing on the steering arm) and then between the Ex. Manifold and oil pan, next to the oil pan to the fuel pump.

I replaced the hose with new rubber hose, but I want to add steel fuel line but I need a diagram or some pictures of where it should run through the frame. Can anybody help with a picture or a diagram???

 

Pages 162-163 of the miltary maintenance manual for m38a1's discusses fuel lines and contains a diagram but it is for an F-134 so probably of very little help. If you want to see it, I can try to upload the pages but I've never done that before so who knows what will happen.

m38a1's were different than the cj5. totally different as far as the fuel line routing. the a1 enters the top of the tank, cj5 enters the bottom. the a1 also crosses the frame twice and runs up the passanger side...

Just something I recently learned. The V6 fuel tanks are different from the 4 cyclinder jeeps. The v6 tanks have the supply and return coming out of the top. The 4 cyclimder tank has the supply coming out of the bottom and no return. I can take pics if you still them, just pm me an email to send them to. The PO of my 70 used the wrong tank and the fuel supply line was way to close to the exhaust.

Yeah I found it thanks... Now I'm wondering what kind of fuel line I need to run ( the flexable, stainless, or steel ???) What would you think?

 

The few times i've run line, i use stainless when possible.

 

I got my fuel line fixed yesterday, chainsawguy I've got a V6 (with the fuel line coming out the top of the tank) but I went with way the M38A1 is run up the passenger's side and under the radiator to the fuel pump. It's running great, and staying primed, The fuel (rubber hose) line is on longer running over or close to the exhaust or muffler.

For attaching the fuel line clamps, one idea I had was to use the plastic inserts that are used for mounting some tag to your bumper, they fix great in the holes in the frame for mounting the clamps.
