I recently purchased a very clean original 1966 cj5. About the only thing not original is the speedo. It has the new replacment in it. I did get the original. The problem is a broken needle shaft. Has anyone had experience with a good shop to have it rebuilt?

If you look around you can find an original style replacement. Look on ebay or this forum's For Sale area, etc. I purchased two originals from an Early CJ5 Forum member. Used one to replace my broken original (the speedo gears were made of plastic and one had a stripped gear). The others are set aside for spares. Keep an eye out and you can easily find a replacement.

There are repair/refurbishment services but my belief is that they are very pricey -aimed at a "show-car" customer. Maybe I have just been looking at the wrong places.
