Wow! Its still going. Its getting close. I have a run this may I want to take it on so thats my goal. I finished the sheetmetal work a few months ago and finished the exhaust last month. I'm knee deep in wiring, but I seem to like that. :D After the wiring all I need is a fuel pump and some odds and ends and it should start up. We are trying to buy a house now and my goal is to be able to drive it onto the trailer instead of pushing it.

I'll post some update pics in a bit.

Thanks for the ongoing encouragement guys!

    Ok, here are some pics.

Finnally got the floor fully sheeted in.

Interior is done. The metal straps in the middle are to support the center console. I'll be reusing my old center console.

After that I started working on the front fenders. I thought I'd need these to mount some of the electrical too, turns out I didn't.

I went ahead and made some inner fender panels to help keep mud and debris out of the engine compartment.

I then made a new radiator shroud for my taurus fan. I actually designed it in solidworks then cut it out using that pattern and bent it up. It came out ok, had some difficulties with welding up the seems.

That was it for making body panels so I quickly moved onto the exhaust. Since we are trying to buy a house soon, I didn't know how much downtime I'd have trying to get setup in a new shop area. I figured I could allways bolt on parts anywhere, but trying to do actual fabwork might be hard. So I'm trying to get a lot of the fab stuff left finished. The exhaust took a couple weekends to figure out. I had to use 4 180degree bends to do it. Its really tight, good thing the motor is more or less solid mounted.

    Enjoy!

I took some time and designed some rock rings for my H1 wheels. I still need to get them cutout, once again I'm trying to focus on making it run first.

T-case shifters. I figured out a simpler way to do things.

I can't tell you how stoked I'll be to have a working E-brake. Thats an Advance Adapters 32spline HD output for a Dana 20 with an atlas e-brake mount attached to it. They were smart, all of their HD t-case outputs use the same general design making it easy to put a t-case e-brake on any of them. We shall see how long those Tera Low 3.15 gears last.:(
    [IMG]

Sheeted in the dash and installed some gauges. Its ok, functional enough for a buggy thats not going to see much if any street time.

I also added some rocker protection.

I think thats about it for now. There were some other things like getting the correct springs for the coilovers and such, but they aren't very picture worthy. The wiring that I'm doing now is definately not pic worthy unless you like multicolored bowls of spaghetti.:D

    Enjoy!

Turned the key with the battery hooked up tonight, first time in 4+yrs I think. I was just trying to see if some of the lights would work as not all the wiring is done yet. Nothing happened, and as I tried to figure out if I had power I noticed a funny smell and the faint sound of something bubbling in the battery. The voltage was over 20v out of the battery so something is wrong. I know the battery is junk and I want to get a AGM style battery to replace it. More than likely I also have a short somewhere.

Oh well, thought I'd try before I leave for christmass. We'll figure it out next year!

NOOO!!, FINISH!, NOW!. i want to see that awesome piece of engineering in action!, beautiful! mine is pretty good to, but it takes alot of unrequited love to keep working on it. kinda like a girl your head-over-heals for that treats you like crap, except alot more expensive and time consuming.... anyway, GREAT BUILD! very inspiring!

I leak checked the fuel cell today. I needed to do this before I put any fuel in it in case I needed to weld on it again. The test rig,

I only found 2 small pin hole leaks so I guess I did a decent job with the welding. I did find out that the o-ring for the fuel filler is a piece of crap however. Its supposed to go on sandrails that spend time at the ocean and in the sand and yet it hasn't been able to survive my garage! It'll get replaced. Here it is blowing bubbles...

Since napa was closed I started stripping paint off the hood. Messy!

    Enjoy!

I did find out what was up with the old battery. I went through and methodicly checked thru all the circuits till I found the one that was causing the short. I had a dome light wire grounding out on one of the body panels. No issues after that, but I was still leary of that old battery so I replaced it with a new sears diehard platinum marine battery. No more acid issues for me!:D I subsquently got the lights, gauges, turn signals etc..., to work, and low and behold it cranks over now!

Still, a million things to do. Got a fuel pump, now I need a fuel pump strainer, then the fuel pump sending unit will be ready for final assembly. Still need to get the steering system plumbed and the resevoir extended.

I did weld on some tabs for limit straps today too, one more thing I need.

    I think I've made a black hole!

    I hate body work!

Still strippin paint, almost done. Theres orange dust everywhere!

I did get the fuel pump installed however.

Also picked up coolant and stuff for an oil change. Need to do a summit order to get my fuel level sender and some tubing to make a new intake.

Did I mention I hate bodywork?

Fuel system is done, I can put fuel in it now.

In the meantime, I've been working on the air intake side of things. I needed to relocate the air filter to a space with more space. Besides, the old intake boot to pvc pipe was kinda ghetto.

The hood still closes all the way, but hits the intake tube as it does. I'm gonna try to squish it a bit after welding to see what that does.

I need to redo some of the positive side wiring off of the battery and I'm thinking of incorporating a master battery switch as well. Seems like cheap insurance in case of an accident. Thoughts?
