My room mates have affectionately named it "Banana Boat". When I got her home one of my room mates saw the wooden tail gate and said it looked like a beach vehicle and I told him the top is gonna be white soon and he said it would look like the Banana Boat and so the name stuck.

Currently she is red on the interior, which is funny because my fraternities (PMA) colors are red, black and gold (or yellow) and the jeep is all of those colors.

Eventually the jeep will be painted fire engine red, a swing away fifth wheel holder will be added, the top will be painted white and Im going back to factory rims painted white and factory size tires.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!(NOT MY JEEP)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I however found this picture on the internet of a 1973 Cj5 with the same top and doors I have and the EXACT same paint job and wheels that I want. I hope that next year when I get the top and jeep repainted and I get the right wheels and tires that she will look identical to this jeep here!

The toyota rear will handle 37+ no problem with stock shafts... Right now the front is unlocked until I get a set of the 'dirty 30's' .. I wouldn't trust a stock birf locked with 37's.

Here is a picture of my jeep in action..... well about as much action as a college student restoring a jeep on a college students meager budget can give it.

My buddy Jon and I took my jeep "Banana Boat" out tailgating during our schools home coming game.

I know the rear shouldn't be an issue since I will be going 36's but yes, the stock birfields are purdy weak and I know they would not last very long (Im locked in the front). Once she is all done, I will be getting a set of the ditry 30's for sure. I held one up againest my stock shaft and birf and there is no comparison.

Exactly... I have the rear welded and no issues. Toyota axles are a great upgrade if you are looking to run around a 35-38 tire... put the longs or dirty 30's in the front and you are done for a while.

    Well tested around here...

Well I sure am glad to hear from people who run these in their jeeps and actually wheel. I dont have the funds for the 30's or the longs but will be saving for them. Hope my stock birfs will last that long so I can keep them in the jeep for spares. Well, only if i go with the longs that is.

Well I jumped off another cliff. I picked this up this week in Valley View, TX. It had been sitting for about 7 years and the PO just decided to give up. It runs very well from a gallon gas can, has no seats and the top is rotten. It is a V-6, 3 speed and has a single stick transfer case. The owners manual says it was sold new with a Braden winch. The winch is long gone. The PO said he had the transfer case rebuilt so I am not sure about that being original to the jeep. It has a different sized yoke and the factory front driveshaft does not fit. The wheels and tires go back to the PO as soon as we figure out how to get the locking lugs off. (LOST KEY) I still have to pick up the roll bar when I return the wheels/tires. I have near new tires from my 65 and stock wheels so that will do for now. My plans are to add a fuel tank, seats and re-do the electrical. It's a filthy mess if you can believe it...[IMG][IMG][IMG]
