I don't know if this is a fuel problem or not so I'm posting here in hopes of someone helping out.

My Jeep has started and run great all summer, but just a month or so I decided I'd park it and put it away for the year. I went out today and tried to start it..... I needed to charge the battery. After the battery was charged it started right up but now it won't stay running, it dies just as if I turned the key off, but restarts right away, then dies again. Any ideas?
    thanks
    David

You are saying that it runs while you have the key in the "start" position but not in the "run" position?

I'd suspect the ignition switch first. Hot wire it and see if it stays running. Run a wire directly from the battery positive to the coil.

After starting, it runs for approx 10 seconds then dies.

I think I can see fuel down in the carb.... If I pour gas directly into the carb it will stay running until I quit pouring.

does it relyably start every time and quit , if you hit the linkage does gas come out ? is it a mechanical (stock) fuel pump? you could take off the fuel line to the carb ,pour a little bit in the carb ,start it ,keep a drible going ,and aim fuel into a big cup to tell if the fuel pump is working .also then try with fresh gas ?.check the fuel filter? look for a bad fuel hose that is sucking air (sometimes hard to find )

Sounds like you are out of gas... lol If only things were that simple ;)

I would trace the fuel lines/hoses starting at the carb.. see if there is anything blocked/pinched/broken...

Fuel filter issue maybe? What condition are your fuel lines in?

Ok I took the fuel line off before fuel filter...turned over engine and it squirted gas. Then I tried taking fuel line off after filter and it also squirted gas. When I had the fuel filter off I blew threw it just in case of any obstacle’s. Put the lines back on and Walla it's running and staying running! Maybe the fuel filter was clogged..... I dunno but what ever it was it is running again.
I want to thank all those who helped me out, ie; timgr, securekey, CJ5/442 and 0IIII0 :)

Put your jeep away for the winter?
It's just mad at you due to your neglecting it.
I'd also check the fuel lines between the pump and tank.
