I'm planning on restoring my steering wheel, but i'm not sure how to take it out. If anyone could give me some details on how to do that, that would be great. I have the original steering wheel in my '61 cj5

Dont put a regular 3 jaw puller on it. Bad day! It will bust the back of the steering wheel all to hell. Make sure you use some type of sleeve or plate for the puller to pull on. There are tons of post on pulling steering wheels on this sight and other jeep sites.

    btw
stack big washers on top of the steering nut.
that will give you the room you need.
