Hello all. For those who do not remember I bought a Frankenstein frame and it was determined to be a CJ5 that was extended 2 feet in the middle and 3 at the end. Has a Kaiser-Jeep "L" head with a GPW head. 2A axles.

Well I am going to do a CJ2A truck build using this frame. I cut the 3 foot overhang off.

    [IMG] :D

Anyway I found the frame numbers on the top of the frame near the trans mount.

    I am seeing 100424 ( The first 4 was a 2 or 3 then the 4 stamped over it.)

    Using this chart http://www.earlycj5.com/zoomer/Vehicle_Indentification.pdf

Am I correct in saying this was made in February of 1960?

Maybe an M416 trailer could be used as a truck bed.

Maybe. Not sure on all dimensions I want to go with yet. Right now the frame is completely stripped down except for the rear axle. ( Love when the bolts rust up in the spring, then the rubber breaks loose and all it does is spin.)

Need to clean it up, replace the rear most spring mounts, add a cross member and rear bumper. Apply the paint and start putting it back to rolling status.

The body work is going to be a pain.

Well today I disassembled the drivetrain that came in this frame.

The motor is junk. I took the GPW head off and underneath was a cracked piston. I took the manifolds off and the food supply of many critters came out along with water.

The Trans and transfer case are original to the frame, I am guessing.
    Trans build date is 1-25-60
    Transfer case is 2-18-60

This would make sense if the frame number says February '60 build.

Well I cleaned up the frame and painted it. Axles are temporarily under it with 33's on. Steering is hooked up. I will post up pictures when Photobucket is cooperating.

Paint is still wet in this photo.

The platform is for my wife to sit on and steer when I push it.

I will no longer be using this body.
Besides being very rusty, it is filled with bondo and sheet metal fixes that are rotting out.

I will be using this body that came with my '47
    [IMG]

It still needs work but it is a better starting off point,It will be sacrificed! Plus I can use the rear section of floor for my newer tub for the CJ2A build, since it does not have a rear floor in it.

This is what I started with....

    The day ended like this...

This will now go to the 2A build.

Many many spot welds were drilled out and I had to cut out some previous owner welds.

I removed the inner rear fenders.

Then I took some measurements from many a different angles to get my cut line...

Then the Sawzall came out....

This is what I cut off. The tailgate area will need to be filled in and strengthened...

I then set it up on the frame.

Then I took 5 minutes to see what it looks like semi-complete.

The grill has been changed again to a later model. The one in the picture is from a '46 and the parking light brackets were hitting the battery tray.

Dennis I moved this to Builds because of the scope of your project.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do, and how it turns out. This is something my 15 yr. old son has been pushing me to help him build for his first car..........think your end product may influence that decision

Have not done anything recently. :( .

I do have the chance to pick up a complete '65 Wagoneer that has the 327 in it. Thought that would be cool to put in this truck. Unfortunately ( At least to me) this Wagoneer has the auto transmission.

Has anyone heard of or done a 327 onto a '60 CJ5 frame?
