My wheels were pitted so I sanded them down and sprayed them with some high temp semi gloss black engine/header paint. The high temp is gas and oil resistant, found that out on another project, I think it was a duplicolor brand. The hardest thing was buying a brand new spare wheel and sanding the high gloss finish off so that I could spray it to match. Just make sure that you get all the gloss sanded off and pay attention to the edges, thats were it would chip from.

Update. I had the hood, fenders and grill sandblasted. I also dropped off all the little parts today to get blasted. Everything is in primer and I am going to hit it again in the morning. Then final sand. Frame has been pressure washed twice and I ordered new body bushings and misc. I bought a cheap hvlp gun and was amazed at how little overspray there is. It is almost impossible to get a run unless you stop the gun. Paint will be soon!

Fixed The radio hole in the dash for a more stock appearance, now I have to figure out what to do with the radio and the speakers.

What kind of top is on that it doesn't look like a full soft top to me? I am wanting to make/buy some sort of bikini style top that looks just like yours?

Had it blasted and I am still cutting out rust, I feel I am close to start primer and filler. Talk me out of taking it to Earl Schieb or Macco. I picked up an hvlp sprayer to try and spray it myself and chickened out. I get lost in the whole etching primers, filler primers, two stage, lacquer, water base, etc...
What did you use for primer and what did you use for paint!?!?
Please be specific. I won't be selling it at the Barrett Jackson auction, but after all this work I want it to look good, and yours looks good.
    Congrats!

I was lost for a while too with all the paint options. i went with PPG omni line of paint. A few posts back there are some links from Tim to autobody101.com. I read alot about paint. I went with an epoxy first and the filler and 2k primer. No need for etching iiif you had it blasted, from what I read. Sanding took forever. I had a friend of mine paint it. He owns a high end body shop. I just did not want green all over the garage. The paint is dupont waterborne, a whole gallon. Dupont clear on top.

    Thanks guys.

Also if you paint it yourself there is alot of talk about compressor size and volume. Mine was to small so it ran alot. I put a water trap and new hose so nothing would be in the paint. The fumes are very bad, get a good respirator. Practice your pattern on a scrap piece of cardboard. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I had the rear corners bent at a local metal fab. Then I cut the ends to match the body. I think they are 1/4 inch.
