I presume on some other site?

Re your question, sure. There was a ventilated windshield available as an option. I don;t know for what years specifically, but it was available. They have split glass, and tilt open from the bottom.

Like this one?? Not sure where my dad got it, he bought it (the jeep) brand new back in 67, rolled it over at some point pretty early and when he took it in to get fixed they asked if the windshield was vented, and he thought they ment with defrosters...and he said yes and this is the windshield they put on it...not the same as the original according to my dad.

Folds down to the hood, or the glass flips up, or the whole thing comes off.

    First, Welcome!
Like previous posters said there was one that was hinged at the top and tilted outward from the bottom. Commonly referred to as vented, ventilating, tiltout, or safari windshields.
Hopefully the flaming you received was on another site. If not please let a moderator or administrator know who it was so we can take care of it. That sort of thing is not allowed nor appreciated on this site.

I have one. It's a 61. CJ5. Not a common item for sure. That's why Blevisay suggested you feel free to sell your Jeep or Jeep stuff on the classified section!

I have pics at home I could download later if you want to see it. Just post a response.

    And Welcome! :)

    Welcome to the site.

I've got one. I"m restoring/rebuilding it. I think mine came from a canadian military jeep.

AS noted, they are not common. I looked for about 2 years before I found one.

    And they are way cool!

I had one on my 67 and I did not like it. I think they may be OK for a short person or if the seat was lower than stock, but I was looking straight at the bottom of the WW motor, and had no vision above horizontal at all.

I put a 69 windshield on my Jeep, with the larger glass and the bottom WW motor, and I've liked it a lot better.

I will say the vent windshield did let in a lot of nice air.

    Just my humble opinion,

    John

It's does...check out my album, I just restored it last year and had it painted (just a Macco paint job)...pretty much blasted every part (small/big) and repainted. Was only going to start out with a little bit of work, then decided to just get it done so I could enjoy!

I agree with you, thought about shopping around for a different one, I'm 6' tall and have the same issue. Need to also get a little smaller steering wheel as that is only about 3" from my legs...but I love it!

Kinda hard to tell, but you can see the split glass.
I agree that it's hard to see out of (I'm 6'1") but it's too cool to get rid of

I've got one too. Hasn't been restored yet, but it will be when I get to that point. Mine isn't split, it's one-piece glass, but I don't know if that's original or changed out.

I never considered that, I guess I'll need to sit and see what it would look like.

    No, no aftermarket source.

Depends on the buyer and seller. Not unobtainium, but close.
