What can I say, Jeeps are addictive! After promising my wife that I would "thin the herd" a friend sends me a link to a C6 for sale just around the corner. "Just going to go look at it" I told her - right! Well, it followed me home yesterday:

With my M715, 69 Commando, CJ10A tug, and 79 Chief all still listed as "unfinished" I need another project like I need another hole in my head but this was just too good to pass up.

Top is in really good condition, body is pretty good also but needs some repair work. Firewall was hacked to fit the 351 Winsor that is sitting in it (not running), has power brake setup but no transmission. Original color of top and Jeep was dark blue (Air Force, maybe?) but has been sprayed OD green.

I will post more pictures later, camera is at work.

Yep, that's it, been on there a few times and he kept lowering the price. Top is probably worth what I paid for it.:)

Crap that's the one I've been eying for months and not telling anyone about! :) Congrats, glad to see it went to someone from here. Now that I have the Scrambler I guess I didn't need another long Jeep anyway.

Of course you do! And, I will pass on the opportunity to comment about length! I have a Scrambler and a Commando (C101) so the CJ6 will feel right at home.

Is the Scrambler a new purchase? Seems like I saw one for sale recently that had a stroker engine. Have you joined the Scrambler Owners of America site ( http://www.cj-8.com/forum/) yet? If you haven't the mid Virginia crowd is planning a get together in February.

Not sure if I will keep/build the CJ6, may come to my senses soon. I have several unfinished Jeep projects in front of it already, just could not pass up the deal.

Yes. I traded my TJ for the one that had the 4.6L stroker. It has needed a lot of TLC but seems to be in pretty good shape. I'm on CJ-8.com, haven't connected with the Virginny crowd yet. Thanks for the heads up.

Lots of parts in back, some original some from the modification project. That's a Spicer 18 transfer case but don't know if it is stock or not.

Funky automatic floor shifter but there is also a Ford bellhousing in back (DITA 6394AA)

Kelly doors are interesting, appear to work and it still has keys!

Top looks to be in very good condition for its age

Rims appear to be steel 8" x 15's but don't know much about them. Front axle is closed knuckle, of course, and has Selectro hubs but I don't know the ratio yet.

I may be wrong, but Kelly tops I've seen have full length piano style hinges and door wings, I think those doors are from a Meyer top.

No, it is a Kelly, has a factory serial number plate on the passenger side just behind the door.

Sorry, I re-read my post and what i typed wasn't what I meant, I agree that is a Kelly top, but i believe the doors are from a Meyer top.

Cool! I need to decide what I am going to do with this, as I see it, I have three options:

    1. Add it to my projects list which will put in behind finishing my 69 Commando trail rig (90% complete); finishing the M715 (80% complete); building my son's CJ10A rig (20% complete); and finishing the 79 Chief (80%). My first project, the Willys SW, is still at 20% and hasn't been touched in 5 years (all the others were put in front of it!)

    2. Come to my senses and re-sell the CJ6 to someone who has the time for it wants to restore/modify it. I have done this with a number of vehicles and it is what funds my other projects (requirement from wife:rofl:).

    3. Part it out. While this is the most lucrative option I always hate to pull apart an old Jeep unless I know it will all be used or what is left is too far gone.

Too early th say where this one is headed, I am still in "CJ6 research" mode and "it would be cool to built it" mode.:?

Doesn't look like it would take a lot to get it running. I am sure you could easily double your money if it was drivable. The key would be to not get carried away with restoring or modifying it, just get it running and in a condition that a new owner could at least drive it home and I bet you could come out well ahead.
