some vehicles, thinking pre 68. the front park lights went out when the headlights were on. front park lamps getting bright when brake is applied sounds like something is wrong in the turnsignal circut

Yep, Thats correct. If you want your front running (park) light on with tail lights, just move the park wire feed over on the headlight sw to connect w/tail. And what turn sig sw do you have? Seven wire?

I just wired my 1969 cj5 with a painless wiring kit with the orignal spartan turn signal and did not have any problem like that. I had a friend who was a machanic who rewired an older car and told me that I might have the same problem you are having. He said that he had had the same issue wiring a Cobra and solved it by putting diodes series in to prevent backfeed from the brake lights. Someone else might have some input on this and where to pick up the diodes.

Test the headlead switch, when I did mine there were 3 terminals on the headlight switch that controled the lights. One was on at the first position (parking lights), another was on in the first position but off in the second position when the headlights were on. The third was the headlight switch. You want to use the one that was on in the first and second postions that would allow the parking lights to stay on when you turned the headlights on. I hope that that did not confuse you.
