I have a 1970 cj5 with fenders that don't have the side marker lite. I have been looking for a new set of fenders for it, since the roll over.
My question is will dj5 fenders fit my cj5?:v6:
    Thanks Rob

I think DJ fenders have the holes stamped in the top for the turn signals.

If you are talking about a postal jeep finders yes they will fit. That's what I have on my 62. they do have the cut out for the marker light (which i'm not real fond of)

you will have to fill the holes in where the big marker lights were. but they are only 1/4 or so in diameter

When did they start putting the side markers in the front fenders?

The side markers were on about 1970.I say this because of the issue with title dates, not clear on some documentation, etc. some say 69-71.i disagree with that.i think the true 1969 had no side marker lights, just the reflectors on the hood.I decided to go with the later reproduction fender with marker light because of the cost of early (no marker lights) re-pop fenders.Well the reproduction fenders are of the lowest quality I have seen.I did manage to massage them enough to use them, but if i would have known i could have repaired my original parts and had a better outcome.that being said i think that the DJ fenders have some possibilitys even though you will have some exspense converting them to CJ-5 replacements.I am not doing a correct restoration so the side marker lights are OK with me.

The passenger fender isnt that bad, but the drivers fender is toast! Its not only bent but also torn in half about mid fender.

On the postal jeep fenders, what years will fit? I have found a complete postal for $300, and it runs and has no rust! I was going to buy it for the parts that I need and give the rest away.

If you get it, save the 11 inch brakes, and the column.

I talked to the guy that has the postal, he's not sure what year it is, between 72-76 he thinks. He has no title on it, but will give me bill of sale. I'm going to look at it this weekend.
EricM, if I get it, I'll save the brakes and steering column for you. I have already upgraded theese on my jeep.

This is the worst of the 2 fenders, it has a split appox 8" up the middle of the fender. Theese fenders have no rust, and no body damge prior to this. Does anyone have any opinion on repairing this or to continue looking for a new one.

If you can weld then I would repair the fender. I've seen worse repaired and look great, all depends on the welding skills of the individual.

Sounds good. I'm set with a steering column, but I'm sure some one else will need one in the future.

The postal I got my stuff from was a 76. you will have to trim the inner finder some to clear the front shock mount. Like the guys say keep the 11" drum brake's and steering column. If the frame is in good shape it is almost like the early 5's minus the front cross member, and the out board rear springs, the frame is fully boxed. You could also sell the 727 torque flight tranny to someone who needs it. by the way some fenders on the postal were fiberglass and some were metal.

I bought the repop fenders without the marker light indents. As said earlier, they are very low quality, and required a lot of filling and smoothing. If I had known that beforehand, I would have tried to save the originals. Metal was thicker on the originals too.

They look repariable to me. If your not wanting a show jeep, I wouldn't even consider finding another one. I wish my fenders looked as good as yours.....
