Yes indeed! Check my garage for evidence. :D :AMC:

No Renegade. No 4-speed. All had tailgates (though some dispute this). No factory roll bar. All the rest of the option list was available AFAIK.

thanks...someday the right 6 will find me! I just wondered if they stickered them up in special editions at all I figured 304 was likely option.

No--the 6s weren't popular enough (Imho) to bother with special packages. They only sold about 1K units a year and the target market wasn't your average consumer buyer but more the "throwback" utilitarian with work to do and a desire for more cargo space.

My 75 does not have the tailgate (yes, original body) and I wish I did have the gate at times. Most of the CJ-6s I see DO have it, so I guess that make mine a little ....more rare.

So, looking at the parts book, it seems what I was told in '75 was true but not the whole story.

At the time I bought my first one in 1975, I was told the solid back panel was not available for order in the CJ-6. The Jeep dealer I worked at fitted it with a new body from Jeep (after I rolled it), and there is no listing for a '75 model 84 with a tailgate. So that much seems to be true. There is, however, a listing for a replacement body for a '74 model 84 with a solid back panel. Interestingly, the listing for that part has a number but says to order the '75 body with a tailgate for a replacement.

Jeep was easy about special ordering unlisted options, so it's not surprising that a '75 with the solid back panel is out there. They would have built it if they had the parts and somebody asked for it.
